The Bravade of Sainte-Maxime
Proud of its customs, Sainte-Maxime cultivates like all the villages of Provence, its festivals of yesteryear!
What could appear today as folklore is truly experienced and felt by native Provençals, and it is with pleasure and emotion that they perpetuate these traditions and popular festivals.
Every year, on May 14 and 15, Sainte-Maxime gathers to pay homage to the city's patron saint. It is the Bravade of Sainte-Maxime.
The saint is honored with a crown and a scarf in the colors of the city by a child of the folk group Lei Magnoti and by a child of the bravadors.
On May 15, the procession begins.
The bust of the saint, carried by four men, is surrounded by religious and civil authorities, bravadors, fifes and drummers. The parade passes through the streets and alleys of Sainte-Maxime decorated for the occasion in blue and white. Many businesses are adorned by their owners with these colors, and many of them display the portrait of Sainte-Maxime.
Date: May 14 and 15, every year.
